Darren is Biking 1,000 Miles for Embers!

1 Mile 1 Child

Darren Jer – an impact partner of Embers International – completed a three-week gravel ride of the Continental Divide on his bicycle, traversing the most majestic scenery in America stretching from Montana to New Mexico. What a challenge!

Making his adventure all the more meaningful, Darren has committed 1,000 miles of his journey to raising funds for the approximately 1,000 children living in the Turbhe red-light district, many of whom lack adequate care and nourishment.

We are pleased to report that Darren has surpassed his goal of biking 1,000 miles on the Tour Divide, the world’s longest off-pavement cycling route! Five states, 29 days, hail, lightning, windstorms, and many packs of gummy worms later, Darren has traversed an incredible 1,700 miles of cross-country terrain.

Would you join his efforts in raising funds to meet these children's needs?

By Embers Children Enjoy Summer Activities August 5, 2022
Through your abundant love and generosity, Embers provides summer activities and outings where our children can play and explore away from the red-light area into which they were born. This year, they have visited a water park for the first time, participated in dance classes, and enrolled in a soccer camp. "The children in Turbhe live in an area fraught with danger," says Susanna Santosh, our Director of Education. "Their regular play area is a bare road or a mountain of rubble. Many kids just get shut up in the four walls of a tiny hut, locked in by parents who are protecting them from the harsh realities outside." Through Sahasee Embers Children's Center, we create space for them to enjoy their childhood in a safe environment – places where they can develop friendships, create, and be inspired. "The kids get to finally be kids," says Susanna. GIVE TODAY
